You know that feeling when you buy a game that isn't Call of Duty nor Battlefield and you ask yourself if you made THE right decision? Well, Counter Strike: Global Offensive will make you say 'Yes'. 8 years passed after CSS came out, and not that many people were satisfied with the final product. Counter Strike GO is, definitely, the best CS in the series. From starting the game, through the no-guy-with-a-valve-on-his-head intro, into the competetive matchmaking is a short way, if your PC is strong enough of course (you don't really need a strong PC).
PRESENTATION
CS GO has some bad things when It comes to it's presentation, but it's menus are fast and easily commandable. As i started my first game, i noticed new chat, new font, new sounds, voices, guns, particularly everything. Some guns changed their looks for the more realistic (Galil, UZI, M4 etc.). What i was disappoined about was the fact that M4 didn't have the option to put a silencer on it, instead the silenced M4 was brought into the game via a major update that brought in weapon skins aswell. Here's an uncommon sitch, you pay 12 dollars for a game and in order to get skins for it, you have to either pay or get lucky, there's absolutely no other way to get skins, especially knives (an average knife costs over 100 dollars). This may remind you of TF2 for example, but it's different than that... By a lot. Items in TF2 don't cost as much, while in CS GO, you hit a gold mine by unboxing a knife from a case. Believe it or not, cases costed more than the keys themselves on the Steam Community Market back when the update just came out (August-October).
GRAPHICS
So, a small rewind, shall we? First game... The guns look terrific, even on lowest settings, but the textures look pale and muddy. The thing that I loved about the new Source engine 2.0 were the details and the lighting. The sky is beautiful and very realistic. Some maps, if you would look at them in CS 1.6 and go back to CS GO, you wouldn't recognize them, for example de_nuke or de_dust. Train looks the same as in CSS, and similiar to CS 1.6, Aztec is pretty much the same too, but the level in detail is obvious. Weapons with skins like the skin BOOM for the AWP are beautiful and may sometimes take your mind off the game (that 's what happened to me at least).
MULTIPLAYER
It's something unlike CoD or BF for sure... When it comes to matchmaking and content (mods, skins, the freedom, strategy etc.). Matchmaking in CS GO is kinda slow, unlike BF where you get matched in less than 2 seconds (CoD has some slower MM). However, in CS GO there's many more ways to have fun due to the huge amount of mods, and of course competetive is really fun if you play it with friends. I have already said enough about the skins and all that.
The console version of the game is something that should have never happened (like TF2 for consoles etc.). There's absolutely no people playing the multiplayer on the console version, so you might aswell kill the bots instead or just save your 12 dollars for a great indie game or just wait for a great game to be on discount on the XboxMarket/PSStore/Steam.
THE VERDICT
I really don't care about the graphics CS GO has to offer, because i've been playing only that for the past year (i played GMOD too, but eh, it was mostly CS GO). If you don't have any friends playing CS GO, you better find them fast because the game itself isn't very fun to play alone. Basically, the only bad thing about the game is its content price, but overall a game cheaper than its predecessor (very uncommon) and it's worth every penny. I give this badass game an 8.5.
